It takes MORE than a prayer, journal writing, goal setting, manifestation or vision boarding to start and grow your business. While a vision is a great place to start, it's also a whole lot of planning and execution. Plan. Action. Analyze. Tweak. Pivot. Repeat. Over and over again until you've built a solid system and foundation for your business. And while that sounds pretty straight forward, most folks forget to include what resources are available to you to get your businesses off the ground. The cold hard facts, we aren't all starting from the same place. Here are a few areas to consider and examine where you are starting from: Financial Time Physical ability Emotional energy Support Community/Network **Important: Meet yourself where you are!! With LOVE, compassion and kindness. There's no judgement here. It's not right or wrong. Or even good or bad. It simply is what it is. It's so much better to have an accurate assessment of your limited resources than to have wild expectations because of what you see others doing and achieving. You will get to where you want to be with persistent, consistent and aligned actions that support you where you are NOW. Ask yourself and record your answers to these questions: What are my financial resources available to me right now? How much time do I reasonably have to work on my business every week? Are there any physical limitations that I need to be aware of? What resources do I have to support my emotional well-being through the ups and downs? Who in my family and close friends can be there for me while I'm starting my business? Who is in my extended circle that will positively impact my business? Once you have a list of resources you can begin plugging those resources into where they will have the most impact on your business...
Quick examples: Maybe you have an extra $100 dollars a month. Where might that be the most beneficial for your business? Joining a business support network. Setting up simple systems for your webpage and email list? You are aware you have time restraints. You have figured you have 3 hours a week to work on your business. What would be the best investment of those 3 hours? Consistent social media content and invitations to work with you. Writing a blog and growing your email list. Maybe you LOVE video and 3 hours would be a great amount of time to create a vlog and do some guest podcasting to grow your community. Being aware of your physical limitations are super important. What physical energies do you need to be aware of? Do you need to consistently get up and stretch, take walks and move around? Is it important to limit your screen time? Would investing in a good desk and chair be beneficial to your well-being and getting the most done without adding unnecessary pain? Do you find your emotional well-being is often frazzled or feeling like you are teetering on the edge? What helps you to stay emotionally healthy? How can you stay aware of your emotions so that they are not running the show? Do you have a plan when things start to spiral? Getting to KNOW yourself is key to slow and steady growth. Don't be afraid to face your gremlins with compassion and understanding. Being honest and self aware will ONLY help you and your ability to stay the course and grow a business that supports you in ALL the ways! Caution. Caution. Caution. NOT everyone you love is going to be in your corner. Be careful who you tell your dreams and aspirations to. There's always going to be folks who try to keep you down in the name of love. It's not that they don't want you to succeed, but they don't want you to fail even MORE and because of their own personal perspective will try to keep you from even trying..... So who's in your corner? Who can you totally trust when things get shitty? Who will help you see through the darkest times? Who believes in you no matter what? Who can you trust when things are bumpy to give you ideas, inspiration and the truth with love? Share your dreams with them. Let them in on what you are trying to achieve. Listen to how you feel when they respond. Trust your own intuition to KNOW who is truly in your corner.... Beyond friends and family there is your network/community. These are folks you know through your town meetings, neighbors, church, school activities, hobbies, Fb groups, online and offline...... Get to know them better. Scribble yourself a list of who's who and how they can help grow your community, network and business. If you don't have a huge list, write down the folks you do know and reach out. Let them know what you are up to. Also write a list of ways you can begin expanding your community online and offline. The bigger your network, the more you can ultimately grow your business. Knowing where and what you are starting with, gives you a true perspective of what resources are available to you now. It also shows you what resources you need to grow. Maybe it's finding an additional hour or two a week. Or you need to find more support while you are doing this. Whatever you need, you will now know and can start to plug some of the holes to keep you from unnecessarily draining your financial, time, energy, physical and emotional well-being.
