Winter is NOT my season...
But I've learned over the years to work with it. What do I mean by that? Well, my energy level gets low during the winter. Lack of sunlight. Frigid cold temps. Winter snowstorms + constant clean up. Power outages. Prepping in case we can't get to the store for days or weeks. Lack of vitamin d. Feeling cooped up. Winter hibernation + isolation can be treacherous if you're not careful. With 50 years of practice living in the Maine tundra, I've adapted. I've learned to honor the seasons + cycles + make them work for me. What does that look like? Increased vitamin d. Consistent bed time routine. Morning self care schedule. Daily outdoor time, no matter what the weather is doing. 4-5 small meals a day to maintain energy levels. Staying in contact with my support network, best friends + loved ones. Pushing my envelope, even if it's just a little, to continue building resiliency. Staying honest about how I'm doing. Being ok with needing more rest than normal. Less is most definitely MORE. Planning. Because times require a plan for the worst case scenarios. Setting goal dates. Getting accountability. Taking action. Observing. Tweaking. Pivoting. Crafting your vision (your dream business) around your lifestyle is critical... If my business needed me to be in fast mode during the winter, I'd be utterly fucked. There's no way I could operate at my highest performance in the winter months. I'm too tired. Brain fog is an issue. My happy level is way below baseline, often. Everything would feel + be a struggle. Therefore, I've created a business that allows winter to be my down time. Because I need it! Winter is when I rest, reset and gain clarity on the months ahead. What do I need for support? What do I need to learn about? What's my tentative plan for the year? Do I have a 12 month fiscal goal I'd like to meet? Break that up into quarters/seasons + reverse engineer the next 90 days. What will that look like? How can I implement my plan with simplicity, ease, grace + less social media time? What boundaries do I need in place? What type of schedule will I have to have? Do my offerings + numbers align with my goal? If not, do I need to either raise my prices or offer a workshop to offset the difference? I journal, a lot! It helps me get it all out on paper + clarify my plan + message + offerings + more..... Seeing it on paper. Drawing, painting, collage art, mixed media, all brings my visions to life... And at the center of it all... Does my business vision support my ideal lifestyle that I am trying to attain? Does yours? Feel free to share. Leave a comment. Feedback + input always appreciated! xxoo
